The Badlands
That which lies above and around Angel Pine, below San Fierro, to the west of Los Santos, South-west of Fort Carson and west of Montgomery is the Badlands. What happened to the forest after the nuclear disaster is not actually known by many, but during night time it’s possible to see the trees emit a faint light in the horizon. The scientific reason for this is over-exposure to ionizing radiation, but there was never that much radiation in that area. While it is not the entire forest that seem exposed to this extreme radiation, it is not wise to enter the area due to afflicted wandering around.
Inhabitants
Those who inhabit the forests within the Badlands are the poor souls who was driving, walking or otherwise traveling through it while the disaster struck. Some, of course, escaped but a large amount was forced to stay there seeing as the radiation level was extremely high. This cause much wonder within the scientists, seeing as something must’ve held them back. A possibility is the citizens of Angel Pine whose situation was never declared. IR scan does not work due to the radioactivity jamming the gear, and no one has ever dared to travel around or through to it. What lies within is a bit of a mystery, and rumors and myths are already emerging.
One rumor claims that there has been launched an underground nuke in the Badlands, but scientists were quick to counter it with the fact that if such happened; the current livable areas would’ve suffered grave water pollution. Another rumor goes with the “It’s the Government”-thing, claiming that it is the government who’s making up the illusion of a radiated forest to hide something that’s in Angel Pine.
Angel Pine
Angel Pine seemingly suffered the most during the nuclear disaster, but it is all very cloudy for the area is unreachable. Both through phone and on foot IR scanning does not even function as it should. The area is therefore deemed “Situation Unknown” seeing as it may be the utopia that the survivors have been looking for, but it may also be a complete wasteland. There’s no proof or confirmation for either, only speculation and rumours.
Angel Pine was, and may still be, a quite small town. Its mere existence was not known by the majority until the late 70’s where a murder case was brought up on television. This case made some culture-interested people visit the lone town, and it didn’t take long before it was brought up all over the West Coast as “the lost city” even though the inhabitants claimed to had visited the rest of the state several times.
This post will be updated, especially “Angel Pine”.
